Meet The Editors: Ernesto Rogata

Ernesto Rogata is a highly skilled video editor at Sky Production Services (SPS) with almost 30 years experience. He currently works across both Sport and Entertainment, covering high profile projects such as Premier League football, Formula One racing, popular series such as ‘A League Of Their Own’, ‘Redknapp’s Big Night Out’, as well as The Oscars and numerous Sky documentaries.

In more than 2 decades at SPS, he has specialised in offline storytelling and onlining, and worked in a number of other areas including finishing (grading and motion graphics). One of Ernesto’s most notable recent projects was Sky Sports’ ‘Behind Closed Doors: The COVID Test’ (aired in August 2020), a cricket documentary describing the challenges of restarting professional sports in COVID and the obstacles faced by Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) athletes. Following the death of George Floyd and the resulting Black Lives Matter movement, this important project was part of Sky’s commitment to equality and diversity, and Ernesto was privileged to be responsible for the online and offline, as well as the grading.

Coming from a photography background, Ernesto started out editing in his native Italy almost by a stroke of luck. He joined Sky Production Services in 1999, following a stint at another international broadcaster in Rome. Taking the job with the original aim of improving his language skills and honing his craft, Ernesto is now one of SPS’ top tier and most sought-after editors.
