Meet The Editors: Mark Giblin

Tuesday 15 June 2021

Mark Giblin is an exceptionally talented online editor at Sky Production Services (SPS) with more than 35 years experience. Currently, Mark works on Entertainment, News and Sport, including hugely popular programmes such as Soccer AM, Women’s Football Show, FYI: For Your Info, and high profile Sky Arts projects such as Antony Gormley’s ‘One & Other’, Hay Festival of Literature & Arts, as well as various internal Sky series.

Approaching his 15-year anniversary at SPS, he has specialised in onlining, and worked across most other areas of editing (including visual effects and grading). Two of Mark’s recent standout projects were his first remote and joint project with his daughter Bethany, ‘Sky Heroes’ pandemic response series, and Sky Sports’ ‘I’m Game’ series. Winning the silver award at the Sports Journalism Awards, ‘I’m Game’ was a key element of Sky’s support of Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign, breaking down stereotypes and challenging perceptions about LGBT+ people and sports, where Mark was responsible for the online and offline editing of the winning episode.

Starting on Star Wars and Monty Python “homages” using a Super 8 camera, papier mache and smoke bombs, Mark first laid a finger to an edit controller in 1986. Fresh from finishing film school in 1993, he worked for Sky Production Services for 7 years before leaving for a 4-year stretch at ITV Nottingham in 2000. Returning in 2006, Mark is now one of SPS’ most experienced and in-demand editors.
