What is a Scenehand?

Operating either in our state-of-the-art studios or on location at one of our many outside broadcast events, this job puts you front and centre of the action. We are a team who pride ourselves on ensuring we deliver the best standards every time and we work as a tight-knit, unified team to ensure everyone is comfortable and enjoying their work to be in the best position to achieve the highest level of work.

The work you carry out in the Scenery department is seen by millions of people, whether it is building the studio at a football stadium for the Super Sunday coverage or rigging one of our Sky News sets to broadcast breaking news, your attention to detail and meticulous work comes with the visual satisfaction which is enjoyed by so many.

What does a Scenehand do?


- Set, dress and strike various productions with accuracy to floor/set plans.
- Liaise with clients and key stakeholders to make sure we meet production’s requirements.
- Maintain standard of sets and studios. From painting to carpentry work, a keen eye and high standards are essential.
- Work away on Outside Broadcast productions, anywhere from an overnight to two weeks away on location.
